ABOUT ABOUT

Fall is a favorite time of year for many people for a reason. Mild temperatures, changing colors and bright sunny days make it both a beautiful time of year AND an ideal time to garden. This 1-hour introductory class will answer common questions like, what trees and shrubs should you prune back in fall? Is fall a good time for planting? And what about leaves and mulch? As it turns out, autumn is the time to tackle many central garden tasks! Sierra the Idaho Plant Doctor will bust a few landscaping myths, set the record straight on planting and pruning, and help attendees prepare plants (and their to-do list) for winter.

Sierra Laverty is a 6th-generation Idahoan and a professional horticulturist. She received a B.S. in Horticulture from Oregon State University and is now a Masters of Science in Entomology candidate. As a natural-born learner, Sierra's philosophy is to use science to care for plants in the best way possible. After overseeing the pest management and horticulture volunteer programs at the Idaho Botanical Garden, she started Idaho Plant Doctor, a plant health consulting and garden coaching business where she's helped over 130 clients grow healthier plants since 2020.
